Bill van Gilder Admirable pots, old and new, possess many like qualities: a subtleness of form in relation to a specific function; an impeccable match of surface to form; a true and correct 'heft' or weight when held in the hand and a sureness of craftsmanship. The making process of the work is completed when the pot is held in the hand, brimming with food or drink, connecting the maker to the user - a subtle form of communication and enough reason for me to continue making pots. -- Bill van Gilder Bill studied pottery under the late Byron Temple, and spends much of his time teaching other potters, both at the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia, and at his own pottery school in Frederick, MD. Bill is also host of DIY Pottery on the DIY television network
