Chain Reaction -- D. Hayne Bayless

... by inviting D. Hayne Bayless ... who invited Louise Harter ... who invited Ellen Huie ... who invited Matt Hardwick ... who invited Elizabeth Robinson Why did I choose Louise Harter? Her work is very different from mine, as is the way she works. I admire her ability to be organized and intuitive at the same time. I’m neither, and so maybe I can learn from her example. She's a neighbor, as is any potter who lives within a couple hours' radius, and I’ve had the pleasure of being on the wood-stoking crew when she fires the kiln she built five years ago. The deal is when you sign up to stoke, you get to put a few of your own pots in the kiln if you want. That has allowed me to explore a whole different way of making work then what I do in my studio. I’ve learned a great deal from her. -- D. Hayne Bayless
