... by inviting D. Hayne Bayless ... who invited Louise Harter ... who invited Ellen Huie ... who invited Matt Hardwick ... who invited Elizabeth Robinson Why I picked Hayne For nearly a decade Hayne and I have been firing pots together in my wood kiln. Hayne's pots are beautiful. They are articulate without being snobby. They are challenging and innovative and at the same time sublime and peaceful. I am always trying to make pots like Hayne's which is kind of joke since we make pottery in completely different ways. Hayne builds his pots by hand using an extruder and slabs to construct his forms. I use my hands on my pottery wheel throwing and altering forms. Haynes pots are really light and mine are really heavy. I picked Hayne because of how often we take completely different paths to arrive at the same destination. - Sam Taylor
