News from Earth and Fire -- November 18, 2005 Let's play a game. From time to time people come in to the gallery in search of something very specific. Over the years, there has been one item in particular that several people have been searching for. The first time someone came in and described this item -- what it looked like, and what it's purpose was -- I thought they were nuts. Never heard of such a thing. After about the fourth time someone asked for, and described, the exact same item, I decided it really must exist. I finally found one. Now, I'm just waiting for someone to come in wanting it. We'll go about this backwards. I'll show you the one I found, and you tell ME what it is used for. Ready to play? ![]() ![]() First person to email me with the correct answer will win a $25 Gift Certificate at Earth and Fire. First person to email me and correctly identify the potter who made it will win a $10 Gift Certificate at Earth and Fire. Yes. If you are the first one in with both the function and the potter, that's $35. It's Friday. I must be in a good mood. Other Business The Chain Reaction show ends tomorrow. If there's anything you're interested in, speak fast. Most of the unsold pots will be returned to the potters next week. If you purchased something from the show, you can come in any time now and pick it up. Categorically speaking I think I'm about finished with the categorization task. I have re-organized the Main Artists' Page (and you'll notice I've been doing pretty well on the administrative task of noting when I have updated an artist's page.) Are you looking for a serving bowl or platter for your holiday meals? It's about that time of year again As my gift to you, all purchases of $200 or more through the end of December will receive free shipping. I may regret this, but yes, that means multiple addresses. Yes, that means you can pick out things for Aunt Sarah and Cousin Janie and I'll take care of the shipping for you. (Continental US addresses only.) No, that does not mean their gifts will be gift wrapped for you (I may be nuts, but I'm not out of my mind). I will, however, enclose a little card with the package identifying you as the sender. I ship UPS Ground, so allow a minimum of one week for shipping. In the end, you have to ask yourself whether Aunt Sarah and Cousin Janie will really remember whether or not that incredibly beautiful pot you sent last year came gift wrapped or not. Also, think about the lines at the Post Office. Yeah. See? It doesn't really matter, does it? This offer is good for in-store purchases, too. You must mention the newsletter, however. And if it's that time of year... Earth and Fire will be open seven days a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas: Tuesdays - Saturdays - 10 am to 5 pm. Sundays and Mondays - 1 pm to 4 pm. Earth and Fire will also be open Monday evening, November 28 until 9:00 pm for the Annual Church Street Stroll. If you can't get by any of those hours and need to make an appointment some evening, that can certainly be arranged. Just drop me an email or give me a call and I'll be happy to accommodate you. I think that will just about do it. In case I don't get another newsletter out before next Thursday, I hope you are surrounded by loved ones on Thanksgiving. Have a good week.
