News from Earth and Fire -- October 3, 2008 It's time to do something else When I started this journey with the gallery, I didn't know what I was doing. I had never worked in retail and I had never owned a business. I just loved pots. I remember early in the process, I sat down with a piece of paper and made a "mind map" of things I figured I'd have to do in order to open a retail establishment. It helped me sleep at night knowing that I had a plan. Eight years has passed and sadly... it's time to move on. I will be closing the retail location of Earth and Fire Gallery by the end of the year. (In answer to a question you may have about the website -- at this point I don't know whether or not it will continue. There are some storage issues that would need to be worked out.) The mind map at this end is much simpler -- liquidate the inventory and sell all the fixtures. -- the Ultimate Tough Love sale, if you will. Unfortunately, there's no graceful way that I can figure to do this with the shopping cart. The problem is that some of the inventory will be returned to the artists if it isn't sold and will not be discounted.
