News from Earth and Fire -- October 4, 2006 Teapots are hereI've got pictures of the Invited for Tea show uploaded to the website. I'm really excited about this show. I've been wanting to do a teapot show for a while, but I didn't really know how to make it different from all the other teapot shows in the world. After seeing Fong Choo's teapots at the Smithsonian Craft Fair last spring, I thought "small and whimsical" and voila -- I had a theme. Now, Hayne Bayless was also at the Smithsonian Show, and his teapots are certainly whimsical, but definitely not small. So I made an exception. The other teapots from Barb Campbell, John Neely and Laura Ross cover quite a range along the whimsical scale, and they are small, so that works. All in all, I think it's a really great collection of wonderful teapots. As an added bonus, Allison Severance is going to be here again for the Gallery Walk and her work will remain here throughout the month of October, because the September Gallery Walk was pretty much washed out by hurricane Ernesto. Linda Christianson I talked to Linda this week and she says she's almost finished with her new kiln and she promises that I'm very close to the top of her list when she starts sending out pots again. She thinks that could be within the next few months. Hang in there. I'm schmoozing as hard as I can. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month Are you a breast cancer survivor? Do you know one? Quest Cycles is a wonderful resource. That's going to do it for this time. Hope to see those of you who are in the area Friday night from 6 pm to 9 pm. Have a good week.
