Peter Karner

Using clay as his medium, Peter creates both functional and artistic pieces whose high-fired glazes emphasize their form. His recent body of work represents a transition from his origin in wood-fired pottery. Undeniably, form is the foundation of his work. Landscape around his southwest home, calligraphy, textiles and the pottery of the past influence his glaze decoration. With each piece, he considers function, aesthetics and the user. From this perspective, he creates a full line of functional pots that accentuate dinner tables and households. He continues to experiment with glazes and form in the pursuit of sophisticated, elegant functional pots for daily use.

Peter's studio is in Hesperus, CO.
